Working Experience
Dato' Dr Tan is currently the Group Managing Director of Southern Steel Berhad, a post he has held since December 1993 and sits on the Board of Shangri-La Hotels (Malaysia) Berhad and NatSteel Ltd, Singapore.
In 1978, Dato' Dr Tan started his career with BNM undertaking research in economic policies. In May 1984, Dato' Dr Tan was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer as well as a Director of Southern Steel Berhad, and was concurrently consultant to BNM, the World Bank and the United Nations University for several years.
In September 1990, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Southern Steel B
