William Barnes WollenRIROI (6 October – 28 March ) was an English painter mostly known for his paintings of battle and historical scenes and sporting events.[1]
Career
Born in Leipzig on 6 October , he was educated at University College School in London from to and also at the Slade School.
From until , he exhibited pictures at the Royal Academy, National Watercolour Society and elsewhere.[2] His first picture exhibited at the Royal Academy was entitled "Football" but he followed this up with his first military painting in entitled "The rescue of Private Andrews by Captain Garnet J.
